As we head toward the spring ski season, we’ve put together a great special (starting March 1) for those of you looking to head out to the slopes at Giants Ridge. So, bring your family and friends (and two non-perishable food items) and get a great discount on lift tickets and rental at Giants Ridge! Here are the details:
“SOUPER” Sunday Night Skiing Food Drive
Save 35% on Sunday nights with a $10 lift ticket and $10 ski rental (snowboard rental - $16). Valid every Sunday night, 4-8 p.m., March 1 thru15. Discount valid for all people ages 7 and over. A donation of two canned food items must be made at Giants Ridge upon purchase of ticket. (Regular price is $16 lift and $16 ski rental). Not valid with other offers. Promotion benefits the East Range Rotary Food Shelf Drive.
I’ve been super busy this week (and again today) with the Minnesota State High School League Alpine and Cross Country Championships.
Here’s a quick update on the snow conditions at Giants Ridge. All in all, the heavy rains that fell across the Midwest and Minnesota earlier this week missed Giants Ridge, and we still have GREAT snow.
- 1” received in last 24-48 hours (there’s more falling right now)
- 30-50” alpine base
- XC trails still in great shape!
Now, I expect to see all of you out at the Ridge this weekend. There’s a TON of great snow and plenty of fun to be had! See ya on the trails!

Here’s the scoop, folks!
Giants Ridge is 100% open with packed powder and a stellar 24-36 inch base.
Our last snowfall: Sun. Jan 4 = 8 inches.
Next snowfall predicted 3-5 inches between Jan. 8-Jan. 10.
XC: 60KM groomed for skating/classic, with the GR Invitational planned for 1/10/09 (1200 participants) and the Pepsi Challenge planned for 1/19/09 (600 participants).

Want to plan a little getaway on a budget?
The Giants Ridge Sports Dorm is offering a great deal for skiers on a budget. So, it may not have all ‘foofy’ amenities of a hotel or condo, but who cares!?! It’s a terrific spot to crash if you’re on a tight budget. And, who isn’t these days? You can ski-in and ski-out to the slopes from the Sports Dorm, too…always a bonus!
Here’s the deal:

Sleep any two nights for the price of one night, Monday through Thursday, and ski any two days, Monday through Friday, for the price of one day.

For those of you with little ones, I just want to put in a little plug for the Giants Ridge Winter Sports School (ski school).
The Winter Sports School team here at the Right has tons of friendly, well trained instructors waiting to enhance your snow experience! They are a “Professional Ski Instructors of America” certified school, as well as the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. The instructors here will meet your needs for Alpine, Snowboard and X-C coaching on all age and ability levels.
The director, Joann Burke, has been at Giants Ridge for 20 years both as an instructor and head of this organization. JoAnn holds her P.S.I.A. certification in Alpine Level 2 and children’s certification for skiing and Level 1 Snowboard instructor for A.A.S.I.
