The Pepsi Challenge cross country ski race will be held at Giants Ridge on Saturday (January 19th). The event marks the 24th year the Pepsi Challenge has taken place.
From the looks of the forecast this morning, Old Man Winter is also making his way to the event .
While we’ve have rather mild temps over the course of the season (so far), Saturday looks to be a different story! With expected highs barely breaking zero, it’s going to be chilly at the start of the race.
Here are the specific Pepsi Challenge race start times:
The 24K and 48K Classic race
9:30 a.m. - mass start
48K Pepsi Challenge race & 24K or 48K Laurentian Loppet
10 a.m. – wave start
10K mini-challenge
will start in waves at 10:15 a.m.
Registration
It’s not too late to register for the race, either. You can register online anytime before the race or the night before or on race day, too.
Iron Range Lodging & Dining
If you haven’t made lodging reservations, be sure to make them soon, as many properties are filling up. There are a couple of properties right on-site, but there are several all within minutes of Giants Ridge that have great amenities and accommodations.
Plus, there are tons of places to grab a great meal all across the Iron Range. Be sure to check some of them out when you’re up here for the Pepsi Challenge.
Better yet, make a mini-vacation out of it - come up a couple days early, ski the trails, stay overnight and experience all this great area has to offer.
Be sure to check my blog for updated Iron Range snow conditions, ski reports and more…
